Water and Gas Safety
Valve Stops Catastrophic Water and Gas Leaks Before They Turn Into
Costly and Dangerous Problems
No
matter how solid the installation, most hot water heaters fail within
seven to ten years. Small leaks can quickly grow into large ones and an
undetected leak can cause hundreds or even thousands of gallons of
flooding. Leaks in gas-fired hot water heaters can pose an even greater
safety risk with pilots snuffing out or the tank firing without enough
water inside. Taco, Inc. has introduced the Water and Gas Safety Valve
(WAGS) to catch leaks before they become floods and shut off gas feeds
before disaster can strike.
Based on a
patented life-saving technology developed for military applications, the
WAGS is the only product of its kind that shuts off both gas and water
feeds in the event of a water leak. Like all Taco products, WAGS
installation is quick and easy. Just place the water heater in a drip
pan and connect WAGS to the cold water supply line and the heater's cold
intake port. If you're dealing with a gas-fired hot water heater, attach
the included wiring harness between the WAGS and the gas valve. WAGS can
also be installed on any non-gas hot water heater and requires no
electrical connections making it extremely reliable and economical.
WAGS has a powerful spring-loaded piston held back by a patented,
moisture-proof but water soluble disc. When the water in the drip pan
accumulates 3/4", the disc dissolves and the piston moves forward,
closing off the flow of water to the tank and breaking the fuse that
shuts off the gas line. Once triggered, the WAGS pops up a red flag to
signal that the valve has actuated and the home has been protected |
